Honda’s CBR500R ‘pocket rocket’ gets an aggressive, aerodynamically driven sports makeover, plus a racier riding position. The engine has more low-to-mid range power and torque, and is it now equipped with an assist/slipper clutch. New LCD instruments and LED indicators round out the updates.
Honda’s fully-faired CBR500R gives a genuine sporting energy to its fun-focussed twin-cylinder ‘light middleweight’ trio. Suitable for riders looking to move up from a smaller machine, it instils the excitement of sports bike ownership into every ride yet also delivers sensible running costs, making it a great bike to both commute through the working week and enjoy at the weekend. It’s also found favour with experienced riders looking to downsize their machinery, while preserving the essence of enjoyable motorcycling.
Contrasting angles and shaping – between the very slim and more muscular – from the fairing nose to the seat unit outline the CBR500R’s new look. It’s an ergonomic design for the rider to use aggressively which also features improved aero management. Clip-on handlebars now mount below the revised top yoke and the riding position is canted further forward.
The engine now makes 4% more power and torque between 3-7,000rpm thanks to revisions to the inlet, exhaust and valve timing. It also now features an assist/slipper clutch. New LCD instruments feature a Shift Up and Gear Position function and the indicators are now LED, to match the rest of the lighting. While the chassis remains essentially unchanged a new rear shock absorber delivers consistent damping performance and improved control.
The CBR500R is an excellent choice for riders ready to move up to a larger capacity motorcycle, or for any rider who’s looking for a light, sporty, all-round street machine.
The CBR500R’s performance will give anyone looking for their first sportsbike an exhilarating ride on a twisty, winding road – or even race track. It works equally well in urban environments and is a motorcycle designed to be ridden, and thoroughly enjoyed, by people of all shapes and sizes.
Perfect for learner riders, the CBR500R is LAMS approved. The 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine is thoroughly modern in design and produces a broad power spread for enjoyable and economical riding.
Honda’s CBR600RR boasts racetrack performance and ideal capabilities to be enjoyed on twisty roads or city streets by riders of all experience levels.
Honda’s CBR600RR represented a big step forward for the 600cc Supersport class when it was launched in 2003. Constant development over the last decade has seen the CBR600RR evolve into one of the most polished packages ever produced in the Supersports arena.
Taking inspiration from Honda's ultimate RC213V race machine, the CBR600RR offers a perfect balance of high-revving power, precise handling, light weight, and a compact overall size.
The CBR650F offers all-round excitement with its sleek lines and a well balanced chassis - feel the rush!
With effective but minimal fairing, the sports-oriented CBR650F is designed to conquer corners with ease while also being the ideal partner on busy urban streets.
Built on the same platform as its naked counterpart the CB650F, the CBR650F’s slim feel and high-set handlebars give excellent control and confidence while its sharp lines and racing livery are reminiscent of Honda’s CBR legacy.
The CBR650F is LAMS approved and has twin 320mm front discs and single 240mm rear disc with standard 2-channel ABS offer confident and controlled stopping power.
For 2019, the CBR650F has become the CBR650R, taking styling cues directly from the CBR1000RR. The revised model name and looks indicate a potent shot of sporty ability, designed to be explored and enjoyed on the street.
In the process of its transformation, the CBR650R has become a rare breed: a sport bike that provides similar pleasure, enjoyment and adrenaline to an RR machine, yet with enough practicality to make it a viable option as day-to-day transport in addition to weekend fun.
Honda CBR1000RR SP2
A model for the true enthusiast and primarily built for race modification; the CBR1000RR SP2 is instantly recognised by its exclusively built Marchesini wheels and commemorative 25th anniversary emblem.
The real differences between the CBR1000RR SP and CBR1000RR SP2 – and what gives the Fireblade SP2 the ultimate racing potential – is what lies inside the engine and in turn the modification options which give full play to an evolved race ready performance.
The CBR1000RR SP2 has exclusive gold Marchesini aluminium forged wheels to reduce front/rear wheel inertia by 18/9%. Marchesini and Honda achieved a high level of durability and reliability using a racing design, proven in the most extreme international motorcycle competitions.
Combining the design and production process of Marchesini with the know-how of Honda allowed dramatic improvement of the strength and weight balance of the wheels, in comparison with the general cast units.
No other Supersport motorcycle combines power, handling, ride quality and overall build quality like Honda’s versatile CBR1000RR does.
Three factors are key to the essence of the new CBR1000RR Fireblade: less weight, more power, and electronics to help the rider wherever and however they’re riding. The new electronic control system provides constant, selectable and fine-tunable rider support. It works the Honda Selectable Torque Control system (HSTC) that precisely manages rear wheel traction via the FI-ECU and Throttle By Wire (TBW). The new ABS braking (also managed by the IMU) offers Rear Lift Control (RLC) and the ability for hard, safe trail braking into corners.
Ninety percent of the main components have been changed in a relentless search for incremental weight reduction in every area. The engine revs harder and higher, with a much higher compression ratio and revised cam timing, and uses the TBW (a first for an inline four-cylinder Honda) and Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) also developed for use on the RC213V-S. Thanks to the use of magnesium and careful assessment and lightening of individual parts the engine also carries 2kg less. The new titanium exhaust muffler saves weight and aids mass centralisation. Overall the Fireblade is a full 15kg lighter than the outgoing model, with a wet weight of 196kg.
The twin-spar aluminium frame’s rigidity balance has been finely adjusted, and the swingarm is stiffer to match. A new rear subframe is lighter, as are the redesigned wheels, while new Tokico four-piston front brake callipers use high-performance track-ready brake pads. The Fireblade’s bodywork outlines an aggressive, functional minimalism, and the machine is slimmer and much more compact. All lighting is LED and two stunning paint options – Victory Red and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic – will be available.
Honda CBR1000RR SP
The 25th anniversary CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is significantly lighter than the outgoing model, makes more power and is fully loaded with a cutting edge electronics package. It’s everything a Fireblade should be and more.
The CBR1000RR SP goes to the next stage of Total Control. Power to weight ratio is improved by 14% - reaching the best level ever for the Fireblade thanks to a 15kg weight reduction and 8kW power boost.
It’s also equipped with semi-active Öhlins Electronic Control suspension, plus Honda Selectable Torque Control, Selectable Engine Brake, new ABS, Quickshifter, Downshift Assist, Riding Mode Select System and Power Selector. RC213V-S MotoGP derived technology elevates the riding experience even further.
As a machine now a full 15kg lighter – with a wet weight of 195kg – and with 8kW power boost, the Fireblade’s physical handling has also been transformed. Rake and trail remain 23.3°/96mm but the hollow die-cast twin-spar aluminium frame’s rigidity balance has been significantly adjusted to give even sweeter handling with outstanding steering response, feel and stability.
